The coolest thing I saw today: Recharge non-rechargeable batteries

Can anyone tell me if they’ve tried this?
I used to have people come into the store I worked with electronics that were ruined because they did this with non-rechargeable batteries. The batteries heat up and leak. But it might be a function of not letting them over-charge. Something to try, I suppose.
